My Name Is Mina Book Review

I recently read a book by David Almond for a book review I have to do on Friday. I am waiting for Orli ~(www.whatorlidid.blogspot.com) to send me her opinion, but until then...:

This book is the prequel to the Carnegie medal winning Skellig. It is the private journal of one of the main characters (Mina) previous to the events in Skellig. She is homeschooled by her mother, because her teacher swore at her for writing nonsense in her SATs (In thi biginin glibbertysnark woz doon in the woositimana. Golgy golgy golgy thang, wiss wandangle...)

She is rather unique, and her peers pick on her for it. I personally find this an inspirational book on different views of  schooling. It also contains interesting anecdotes, explaining this she unexpectedly comes out with in Skellig. I would reccomend this book to people my age, as it made me laugh, cry and waver between. David Almond is an amazing writer and he deserved that medal!
