Books I've read last month!

I'm sorry, but I won't be including the Pokemon books my brother lent me :)

Emerald Star
4 Stars
Jacqueline Wilson

I liked this book, but somehow I found it hard to get into. The start was quite fast, which I usually like, but there was just something about it. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because I wanted to slap Hetty/Sapphire/Emerald when she chose what she did. ( Nearly gave it away then, phew!)

There is no Dog
5 stars
Meg Rosoff

This book was BRILLIANT! It really made me think. The main character is God... but he's a teenage boy. I found this witty, and funny, with the occasional sad moment. It captures a teenage mind perfectly. The disasters that followed when he fell in love with a human were portrayed in a believable way, and I adored Bob's character.

15 Going on Grown Up
3 Stars
Stephanie M. Turner.

The beginning of this book was easy, simple, and didn't require much thinking. Then I got to the middle. Hmm  it was okay. I predicted the climax the second it mentioned Ellie, so it wasn't like I had a heart attack. It ended sort of abruptly, which I was disappointed with. It also encouraged underage sex... not great. Hally is fifteen, and it's good she talks to her mum, and decides she is ready, but it's not legal in England. And that is where the book is set...

Boys Don't Cry
5 Stars
Malorie Blackman

I couldn't put this book down! Literally! I cried twice, my chest felt funny a few times, and I wanted to hug his brother Adam so hard! Dante's ex turns up on his doorstep, and basically throws a baby on him, saying it's his. Dante gives up college, and throws away his future to look after his baby girl, and no matter what, he refuses to give her up. Meanwhile, his little brother Adam is struggling with his sexuality. His father thinks it's just a stage, but Dante knows better. Once again, I applaud Malorie Blackman, for such an amazing piece of work :)

These are just the top four books I read, and I hope they are good enough for you!" I'm not great at reviews, so this was a giant leap for me! Hopefully, my next post will be a DIY, so let's hope the webcam behaves!

  1. Thankyou, Thakyou, Thakyou Molly for the book reviews! I have also read Emerald Star by J.W., I waited 2 months and paid 80c to get it on hold at my loval library. I was disappointed because it was nothing compared to Sapphire Battersea. *SPOILER ALERT GUYS* (sorry Molly) But I was incredibly annoyed at the middle and ending. As you can all see, I am pretty much Bertie's NUMBER ONE fan. Jem just bothers me. Even in the end I was disappointed, so I will share my epilogue to go after the final chapter. I reckon the circus visits London agian, and Bertie happens to be be there. Other Hetty fans will know about his amazing strength and dancing skills, and he ends up joining the circus too (mainly to be with Hetty because they are best friends again) eventually they fall in love and live happily ever after as travelling circus folk THE END. Pretty nifty I think.

Also, I really would like to read There is No Dog. I will mention that one of my friends is practically obsessed with Malorie Blackman, but her books seem a little depressing for my liking. Now, just because my painfully long comment couldn't get any longer (sooooo sorry!!!) I will say my last few books: Looking for Allibrandi by Melina Marchetta and A Christmas Carol By Charles Dickens and Don't Call Me Ishmael by Michael Gerard Bauer (for the 5th time - they are the best)

Bye, and sorry for the long, (hopefully) not pointless post.
